To keep our prices reasonable, we have no office staff. Owners and managers work in the store assisting customers and/or creating product to sell. No one is in the office to check emails often enough to accept orders over the Internet.
Ordering over the phone is advantageous for both our customers and Emily's staff. Each night our bakers play a complex guessing game. How many doughnuts will we sell today? How busy is it going to be today? How many customers are going to walk through the door today and buy three dozen rolls and donuts in a box?
When people place advanced orders, we have a solid base for our guessing game. Customers benefit in several ways:
1. Emily's will have specifically what you need.
2. Your order will be ready when you drop in to pick it up.
Have you ever needed 28 sprinkled cake donuts for your son's or daughter's class and Emily's only had 23 left? Ordering ahead would eliminate that problem.
Have you ever been to Emily's and waited a little longer than you expected? Packing rolls and donuts, cookies, muffins etc. takes time. We need to fold the appropriate-size boxes and then line them with wax paper. Our salesperson then must locate all the items and carefully place them into the boxes. Then they must tally all the items and ring them up on the cash register. By ordering a day or two in advance, the packaging details can be discussed and noted on your order. A specific staff person then packs the order prior to your arrival. The order packer even calculates the numbers and jots down totals for the salesperson, who then quickly rings them up on the cash register. It's much quicker and far more convenient.
Have you ever gotten home from work, eaten dinner and, hours later, realized that you were supposed to order a dozen danish for a meeting in the morning? It's past 6 p.m. and, darn, Emily's is closed. Give us a call anyway! Our night staff is working and will be happy to enter your order into our book. When our order packer arrives at 3:30 a.m., he/she can pack your dozen danish and have them waiting for you when you come walking through our door.
Or suppose you wake up in the morning, jump in the shower and think, "Man, an Emily's apple turnover sure would taste great on the way to work this morning." Give us a call! We open at 5 a.m. and would be delighted to set your apple turnover aside for you. This ensures that you get your pre-work treat. Who knows? This could be the very morning that someone walks in a few minutes earlier and buys all the apple turnovers we baked that morning.
While many items can be ordered the day prior to picking them up, that's not always the case. So if you know a couple of days in advance that you need our help, give us a call and we'll make sure we'll have what you need, when you need it.
Short lunch break? Call Emily's and order your favorite soup and sandwich combination. Let us know what time you will be here to pick it up and we'll have it ready.
Thank you!
